BPA Free Sealants

Young girl, Dental sealants - a good solution!

We know that it can be tough to get kids to brush their teeth. And, once you are able to motivate them, odds are good that it’ll still take them a while to become effective at getting their teeth completely clean. Here at Piedmont Pediatric Dentistry, we can offer a good solution – dental sealants!

Why Choose BPA-Free Dental Sealants?

Dental sealants consist of plastic resin coating that is painted onto the teeth, hardening into a thin, protective cover that seals off the surfaces of the teeth. Sealants are especially effective on the back molars. This is because the sealant is able to coat and protect all the little nooks and crannies in your child’s teeth, protecting the vulnerable enamel underneath.

While your child is learning how to effectively brush his or her teeth and remove plaque from the small, hard-to-reach ridges and grooves of the back teeth, dental sealants will provide protection. And because the dental sealants here at Piedmont Pediatric Dentistry are BPA-free, they’re safer than ever for your children.

Dental Sealant Procedure

Below are the steps involved in receiving dental sealants:

  • First, each tooth will be cleaned and dried and then a solution will be applied to the surfaces of the teeth. This solution is used to help the sealant bond to the teeth.
  • Once the solution is applied, each tooth will be rinsed and dried.
  • Lastly, the sealant is painted onto the enamel of each tooth. A special light will be used to help the sealant harden and bond to the teeth.

You will care for sealants the same way you care for natural teeth enamel. Make sure to brush, floss, and visit our Greensboro, North Carolina pediatric dental office every 6 months for a dental cleaning and exam. Dental sealants can last up to 10 years, but may need to be reapplied after this.
