Prevention

Mother and daugter brushing, Prevent dental disease.

Our Greensboro, NC child’s dental office puts a strong emphasis on prevention of dental disease. The best way to prevent dental problems from occurring is to practice good at-home dental hygiene and to teach your children how to do the same. Infant tooth care can consist of wiping down the gum tissue with a clean cloth after feedings. For older children, their oral hygiene habits should be the same as yours – brushing at least twice a day with fluoride toothpaste, flossing daily, and visiting the dentist every six months for a dental cleaning and a checkup.

If and when your child has received all of his or her baby teeth (including the six-year-old molars), you may want to consider dental sealants, which can help prevent decay from occurring in the hard-to-reach areas of your child’s mouth.
