3 Signs Your Child Needs a Dentist’s Appointment ASAP

Regular dental visits should be an integral part of everyone’s lifestyle, regardless of their age or whether they have any dental issues or not. However, it is imperative to take extra care during a kid’s formative years. Kids have teeth and gums that are still being developed. Hence, any issues that may occur can cause long term damage if not treated early on.

To ensure that your kid’s oral health is never compromised, always keep a lookout for these signs that could suggest that your child needs to see their dentist as soon as possible.

  • Persistent pain
If your child complains of a toothache, the chances are that you’ll ask them to brush their teeth and go to sleep. This isn’t a wrong course of action, but if your child still wakes up with the same toothache, then it is time to book an emergency appointment with the dentist. A persistent toothache could most likely be indicating tooth decay or a chipped tooth, and both of these conditions require immediate attention.
  • The Color of Their Teeth Is Changing
If you notice that the color of your child’s teeth is changing, then try to take them to the dentist as soon as possible. A tooth that is turning gray or black is likely dying and requires immediate treatment. The only other reason that a tooth will be any color but white or mild yellow is due to their genetic buildup. Regardless, both of these situations require dental attention.
  • Bad Breath
Bad breath is one of those issues that people don’t pay much attention to. Waking up with bad breath is normal for many people, and brushing your teeth or even a quick rinse can help you get rid of it. However, persistent bad breath that doesn’t go away with mouth fresheners could signal more significant oral concerns that need to be looked at.

If you notice any of these signs with your child, take them to the dentist immediately. If you reside near Oak Ridge, then Dr. Naomi Lane at Piedmont Pediatric Dentistry is a great pediatric dentist to consider, as she knows her way around kids. Book an appointment now.
