3 Things Your Pediatric Dentist Wants You To Know

The job of a pediatric dentist is to take care of your kid’s oral health. However, they require equal efforts from the kid’s parents to ensure that the health of their kid’s teeth and gums doesn’t suffer.

For this purpose, the chances are that your pediatric dentist wants you always to remember the following things:

  • They Don’t Judge You For Your Child’s Behavior: It is surprising how many parents delay an appointment with the pediatric dentist because they’re embarrassed by their child’s behavior. The truth is, pediatric dentists, don’t judge you at all. Whether your kid is throwing a fit over candy or crying because they don’t want to visit the dentist, it doesn’t matter to the dentist. They just want to help and try to make sure that the kid’s experience is as comfortable as possible.
  • They Want You To Be Honest With Your Kid: Many kids who come to a pediatric dental clinic have no clue what they’re getting into. It isn’t uncommon for parents to lie to their kids to trick them into visiting the dentist. However, this only makes the experience worse for everyone. It is natural for the kids to get hyper once they find out what is really going on. Therefore, it is much better, to be honest with them. Talk to them, and try to address their concerns. It will be much more helpful when they’re prepared for the appointment.
  • They Want You To Visit Regularly: It is easier to make time for a dentist when it’s an emergency, but regular visits can be overwhelming. Yet, an emergency means that the situation has already escalated to a point where treatment may be difficult. To prevent a worst-case scenario, it is essential to visit the dentist once every six months. However, if you ever feel anything wrong going on in your kid’s mouth, don’t wait for the next appointment and schedule an emergency visit as soon as possible.

If you reside in Summerfield, Oak Ridge, Forest Valley, or Friendly Acres, visit Dr. Naomi Lane at Piedmont Pediatric Dentistry for your kid’s pediatric needs.
