Why You Should Take Your Toddler to the Dentist?

Once a toddler gets cavities, it is more likely they will deal with it more frequently during adulthood. That is why as soon as you find cavities in your baby’s mouth, you should get an appointment with a pediatric dentist quickly.

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends using a fluoride toothpaste after your toddler gets their first set of teeth. This paste should not be more than a grain of rice. This way, you can protect their teeth right from the beginning.

When to Plan Your Child’s First Visit?

As soon as you find the first tooth in your child’s mouth, you should visit a pediatric dentist. According to the American Dental Association (ADA), this mostly happens when a child becomes 6 months old. Irrespective of when they get their first tooth, make sure you visit before their first birthday. Some signs that indicate you should take your child to the dentist include the following:

  • They complain of tooth or mouth pain.
  • Their gums are swollen, red, or bleeding
  • Cold and hot foods cause them dental pain
  • Their teeth start to fall out

Besides, if there is something in your child’s mouth that troubles you, such as bleeding and white spots, get an appointment ASAP.
